Rolled Sugar Christmas Cookies Recipe
1/2 cup butter at room temperature
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup milk
3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
In mixer bowl cream together the sugar, butter mix till well blended. Add the egg to the creamed
mixture. Add the milk and vanilla beat well.
In a bowl stir together the flour, baking powder, salt. Add dry ingredients to the creamed mixture and beat till well blended. Divide the dough in half wrap each half in clear plastic wrap. Place in refrigerator for about an hour till dough is firm enough to roll.
After dough has chilled roll each half on lightly floured surface about 1/4-inch thick . Keep remaining dough chilled till needed. If dough becomes too soft, chill again or sprinkle a little more flour on the rolling surface. Cut dough with cookie cutters to desired shapes. Place cutout on an ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake in a 375 oven for about 7 to 8 minutes. Remove cookies with a spatula on to cooling rack, decorate as desired. These cookies can also be frosted.
